Abstract

Drum is of the type having one end fitted with a stub-axle running in swivel bearings and coaxial with the direction of rotation of the drum; the other end having a central opening. The drum is driven by the two rollers on which it rests. Filling and emptying is much simplified so that the treated particles can be removed at one end by reversing the direction of rotation. Internal partitions divide the drum into two parts and the direction of the circulation between the central opening and the peripheral orifices results from the direction of rotation. In one direction the materials to be treated are retained in an internal chamber; to empty the drum the direction is reversed when the materials will be evacuated through the central opening, by successive fractions at each turn of the drum.
