Abstract

Illuminated photo-sensitive photographic Ag halide element is treated with a fixing soln. contg. (I) a solvent for Ag halide and (2) 5-100 g/l addn. prod. of acetone and a bisulphite, esp. Na Bisulphite, at 25-50 (esp. 27-40) degrees C. Process is esp. useful for automatic developing machine for developing direct x-ray film for medical use. Addn. prod. acts as inhibitor against swelling of emulsion and promotes film drying rate without affecting fixing or rinsing efficiency.
