Abstract

Slag of low lime content is treated by grinding it to a fineness of at least 4000 cm2/g, and mixing with 10-40% of its own wt. of illitic or montmorillonitic clay of similar fineness, formed into plates, granular or pellets and expanded by thermal treatment in a tunnel or rotary kiln. The process provides an outlet for slag obtained during combustion of charcoal.
