Abstract

Enamelling process for ceramics employing an enamel contg. 30-80% natural barytes plus a presintered glass or frit melting at 600-950 degrees C. The enamelling takes place at 800-1000 degrees C. Lower temps. are achieved by the addn. of K or Na feldspars and kaolin may be added as a colloidal dispersant. No gas is evolved during firing and a very homogeneous, smooth, abrasion resistant surface is obtd. The process is economical since the bulk of the enamel is a cheap naturally occurring mineral.
