The title cpds. of formula (I) and their tautomers (in which Ac is acyl, R1 is H or acyl, and R2 is an aliphatic radical) are prepd. by acylating the corresp. 1,9-dihydroxy-cpd. in the 1-posn. and opt. in the 9-posn. The cpds. of formula (I) are new, with the exception of 1,9-diacetoxy-8-methoxy-anthracene.
