Abstract

Two identical parts of a package joined by a hinge, consist of cavities in the shape of half an egg which mate together, the ends of the cavities being offset from the ends of the eggs so that the latter do not come directly into contact with the part of the cavity most exposed to shocks. The design minimises direct contact between the eggs and the cavities to eliminate shocks. The end protection of the cavities may be a cylinder projecting from the end. The two ends may differ so that the receptacles and the covers may be distinguished. Additionally the lateral walls of the cavities may be fluted. Holes in the structure provide ventilation. The package may be thermoformed from transparent semi-rigid plastics.
