Abstract

Material (e.g. corned beef) in fed along a feed pipe by pref. an endless screw to a distribution chamber in which a butterfly valve is housed, the valve being rotatable between a first posn. in which one side of the chamber connects the feed pipe to a first dosing cylinder and in which the other side of the chamber connects a second dosing cylinder to a delivery pipe, and a second posn. in which the connections are reversed. Then one cylinder supplies material to the delivery pipe from which it fed into a container. Accurately measured quantities of material are automatically filled into containers.
