Abstract

Saw blades for cutting metals at working temps. up to 400 degrees C are made from a steel comprising C 0.8-1.3%, Si 0.5-2.0%, Cr 0.05-3.0%, Mn 0-3%, Vo-0.5, Mo 0-1%, W 0-1%, Nb 0-1% Ta 0-1%, Ti 0-1% (total of the last 6 elements 2%, pref. 1.5%), total 0-1W of Ni, Cu, Co, Zr and B, P max 0.040 (pref. 0.025)%. balance Fe. The steel provides a mfg material for saw blades intermediate between carbon steel and high speed steel. It is resistant to temp. wear and softening and is relatively easy and economical to make.
