Abstract

The mixture, in which the molar ratio of glycol : acid is less than 2 : 1, also containes 1-15 wt. % based on the terephthalic acid present, of bishydroxyethyl terephthalate, dimethyl terephthalate, dimethyl isophthalate, sebacic acid, aselaic acid, a low m. wt. polymer or a mixture of these compds. The mixture is warmed before passing it to the esterification reactor, where the polyesters are produced. The additives reduce the viscosity of the mixture, thus facilitating it's transfer to the reactor.
