Abstract

A feed screw adds the colourants directly to the mass of material at a point between the hopper and the extruder just before its entry into the latter. The feed screw of the colourant is pref. at the lower end of the hopper for the colourant and operates in a cylinder feeding directly into another larger tube which can be inserted between the hopper and the extruder. A wide variation of feed rates is possible, contamination is avoided and vacuum may be applied to the material hopper.
