Abstract

At least 2 separate melts of thermoplastic resins are formed, at least one of which is of an orientable resin. A multi-component resin sheet is extruded, and is cut into ribbons, which are heated and drawn to orient the orientable resin, then cooled. Pref. the cooled ribbons are divided to at least partly fibrillate their oriented portions. Specif. the composite ribbon comprises a layer of disordered propylene-ethylene copolymer and a 2nd layer of propylene-ethylene block copolymer.
