Abstract

Composn. has a cinematic viscosity of 1.5-200 cS contains one or more naphthenes and/or paraffins and at least one component having (cyclo)alkoylic characteristics. Pref. composn. contains two paraffin oils contg. >=1% aromatic hydrocarbon gel, 10-90% of one having a large N.M.R. peak at 8.58 tau and only a small peak at 8.84-8.85 tau and 90-10% of the other which has a large peak at 8.84-8.85 tau and only a small peak at 8.58 tau; a paraffin having characteristic units of -R1R2C-CH2-(where R1 is H or methyl and R2 is isopropyl or isobutyl; one or more per hydrogen styrene (co)polymer derivs. esp. of alpha- or beta-methyl- and corresponding subst. styrenes; a 12-30C decalin having at least one (pref. 1-5C) alkoyl esp. 5-6C cycloalkyl and/or 6-10C alkoylcyclohexyl or cyclopentyl substituent; napthenes; a sat. adamantane deriv., olefin (co)polymer; and a component with molecules having a sat. cyclic gp.
