Abstract

Non-poisonous stabilisers for resins containing polyvinyl(idene) chloride, which have a pleasant odour, consist of (a) a di-n-octyltin S,S'-bis (alkylmercaptoacetate) with the formula:- (n-C8H17)2Sn(SCH2COOR)2, where R is C1-12 alkyl and (b) di-n-octyltin maleate, in the weight ratio (a):(b) of 1:3-4:1. The stabilised polyvinyl resins can be used in the food industry. In component (a) R preferably has 6-10 carbon atoms.
