(I) (where R is H, 1-6C alkyl opt. interrupted by O, N, S SO or SO2 and opt. carrying on any heteroatom Me, CHal3, or Ph or opt. substd. by OH or CO; R1 = H, OH, O-acyl, CHal3 or Me SO2 and R2 = H, Me or CHal3) are prepd. by cyclising in an acidic medium and an inert solvent. a compd. (II) (I) are antiphlogistic, antipyretic and analgesic agents and cyclisation is effected despite the teaching of prior art that the pyrazolidine ring may be opened by treatment with acid.
