Abstract

ENZYMETIC ALKALINE ETERGENT CONTG. A THERMOPHILIC PROTEASE FROM A STREPTOMYCES. M5-. Comprises a) an organic synthetic detergent; b) an alkaline adjuvant such as an organic and/or inorganic alkali, adjuvant, the proportion of detergent to adjuvant being 10/1-1/30, pref. 5/101/20; c) 0.0025-10% pref. 0.003 - 3% of a proteolytic enzyme derived from the thermophilic Streptomyces rectus var. proteolyticus ATCC 21067, and d) 0-60%, pref. 2-50% of an oxidising bleaching agent, the detergent composition having a pH or 8-12, esp 9.5-12. This detergent composition may be used to soak solid articles prior to washing with the same soln. and the enzyme contained therein is more adapted to the washing conditions normally encountered than the hitherto used portease delivered from Bacillus subtilis.
