Abstract

Substrate is coated by passing the substrate beneath one or more perforated troughs dispensing a finely powdered resin which can subsequently be fused into a continuous coating. The substrate may be roughened or coated with an adhesive, prior to receiving the powder. Pref. the sides of the (vibrating) dispensing troughs converge at an angle between 50 and 100 degrees and the perforated base section resembles a hyperbolic curve. Esp. for coating panels of wood with thermoplastic or uncured thermosetting resins to obtain a flatter overall surface than manual brush or roller coatings without using a press.
