Abstract

Waste heat boiler. .F4-. Is more especially intended for the cooling of cracked gases; it includes a passage for the gases where the exchanger tubes are incorporated parallel to the conduit for cooling the gases. The boiler is divided into two parts which follow each other in the direction of the circulation of the gases; at least one of the parts has a bypass conduit and includes an associated sliding control valve. The two parts of the boiler are adjacent and are connected by a circulation conduit in the form of a 'U'; they comprise an external body and an internal body assembled by the welding of the exchanger tubes. Down comer tubes are situated in the space between the internal and external bodies as well as other tubes arranged in the enclosure of the internal body. The exchanger tubes are joined in dusters to annular manifolds and the body enclosure serves as a flow channel. Insulation and refractory linings are provided in the usual manner. The object of the boiler is to obtain without difficulty and even with fluctuations in the inlet temperatures or the operating conditions, well defined outlet temperatures for cooled gases.
