Abstract

55-10% of binder is mixed with 45-90% oxidising (reducing) fillers, where the binder contains at least two COOH's per mol. reacted with a cpd. contg. at least two functional groups/mol. such as aza(cyclo) bis carbane where the polydiolefin (I) (a) is prepd. by copolymerisation of alpha-diolefin such as butadiene or isoprene with a mono-olefin contg. COOH groups such as (meth) acrylic acid or (b) (I) has a terminal COOH at each end and is obtd. by polymerising a diolefin with an organo bis alkaline cpd. and treating the product with CO2 and then acid to initiate polymerisation with azoic catalyst contg. COOH groups such as aza-4,4' bis-4 pentanoic acid. (I) has acid equiv. 0.2-2/kg and mol. wt. 500-10,000. Crosslinking agents are present in amount 0.7-3 in proportion to (I). The mixt. at 20-120 degrees C is cured in moulds at 20-120 degrees C for 2-15 days. The product has good mechanical strength and low shrinkage.
