Abstract

1,073,509. Mounting guns in vehicles. BREVETS AERO-MECANIQUES S.A. Oct. 18, 1965 [Nov. 24, 1964], No. 44062/65. Heading F3C. An armoured vehicle comprises a gun turret 2 housing an automatic gun, the rear portion of the gun being journalled about a horizontal axis XX fixed with respect to the turret 2 and being contained in a drum 7 which is sealed for rotation in the turret by packings 11a and 11b. The drum is provided with two gates 7a, 7b, one of which 7a lies wholly within the turret in one position of the gun so that the breech mechanism can be serviced from inside the vehicle. The other gate 7b likewise allows the rear end of the gun to be serviced but from outside the vehicle. The drum 7 and hence the gun is elevated through an hydraulic motor 12, the pressurized fluid therein being supplied from an accumulator 14 and electric motor 15, the motor 12 being controlled by a member 16 by which also the turret may be rotated. The automatic gun disclosed is a Hispano-Suiza, type 820.
