Abstract

Fuel elements 13 are located centrally within a channel 11 of the moderator core 12 by registers 14 located in recesses 15 in the wall of the channel and urged by interconnecting spring wires 16 to extend beyond the surface of the wall. As shown, groups of three registers 14 are dispersed at intervals along the length of the channel 11. In a modification (not shown), each group comprises four registers.
