Abstract

The invention relates to a process and an apparatus for measuring porosity and other quantities of a solid material, especially primitive rock 1 around a hole 2 of defined depth. According to the invention, the hole is closed off at a chosen location and gas is introduced into the closed-off part, whereupon the flow quantities of the gas are measured, on the basis of which data the desired quantities of the material are determined according to the chosen calculation method. From the close-off location, a narrow cylinder duct 12' is formed between the cylindrical surface of the hole 2 and the non- porous inner cylinder 12 and the cylinder duct 12' is closed off at the opposite end, too, whereupon a gas pulse is fed into one end of the cylinder duct 12' and its equivalence is measured at the other end, the diffusion method being used as the calculation model for porosity and the other quantities, which method is known per se and is conducted using the cylinder test and the non-porous outer cylinder. <IMAGE>
