Abstract

In this invention, a method and a device are described which allow electrical conductivity in an object P to be determined by introducing electric current J via electrodes 12 into the object P by means of a current apparatus 11. According to the present invention, the magnetic field outside the object P is measured with a plurality of magnetometers 15, for example with the same measuring apparatus as is intended for biomagnetic measurements, so that this magnetic field is induced by the current distribution J which has been introduced into the object P. The conductivity anomaly A, which differs from the known background conductivity, is calculated on the basis of the measurement results, advantageously using the perturbation method. <IMAGE>
