Abstract
Method and arrangement in the press section of a paper machine for regulating the axial linear load profiles of the roll nips N1, N2, N3. The axial temperature profile of the outer shell of the press roll or rolls 11, 13, 16, 17 is regulated. In this connection the diameter distribution of the press roll in the axial direction is monitored on the basis of the thermal expansion. This is used to influence transverse linear load distribution of the press nip or nips N1, N2, N3 that are formed by the press roll or rolls 11, 13, 16,17 in the machine. The temperature profile of the outer shell 11', 13', 17' of the press roll or rolls 11, 13, 17 is regulated by directing a heating/cooling effect, profile-adjusted in the axial direction of the roll, against the press felt or the felts 10, 14, 18, which run via the press roll nip or nips N1, N2, N3 that are formed by the roll in question and/or water jets F directly on the outer shell of the press roll or rolls, the distribution F1 ... FN in their quantity and/or the temperature distribution T1 ... TN being regulated so as to produce the desired roll nip pressure profile. <IMAGE>
