Abstract

An end-shield (101 ) of an electric machine is presented. The end-shield comprises a bearing housing (102), apertures for receiving ends of cooling tubes (1 17, 1 18) connected to electromagnetically active parts (119, 120) of a stator of the electric machine, sealing structures (105a) for sealing outer surfaces of the ends of the cooling tubes into the apertures, and inlet and outlet pipe connections (106, 107) for connecting to an external cooling fluid circulation system. The end-shield is shaped to constitute a manifold for conducting cooling fluid from the inlet pipe connection to flow through one or more of the apertures and for conducting the cooling fluid flowed through other one or more of the apertures to the outlet pipe connection. Thus, the end-shield constitutes not only a mechanical support for a bearing but also a manifold for connecting cooling tubes of an electric machine to an external cooling fluid circulation system.
