Detailed description of the invention
First the drill tool for percussive drilling and some embodiments and variants of the drill tool will be described in greater detail.
The drill tool has a drill string assembly 1 comprising at least one drill rod, a drill bit assembly 2, and a central flushing channel 3 configured to conduct flushing fluid (not shown in the figures) to the drill bit assembly 2.
The drill tool has a borehole survey tool 4 in the central flushing channel 3. The borehole survey tool 4 is configured to obtain data of a borehole drilled by the drill tool and the borehole survey tool 4 has a transmitter 5 for transmitting signals containing data of the borehole drilled by the drill tool. The borehole survey tool 4 can be the borehole survey tool 4 presented in publication WO2014/037619, which is hereby incorporated by reference. The borehole survey tool 4 may comprise an outer casing 25 of elastomer for providing protection for the borehole survey tool 4. The elastomer is preferably transparent to signals originating from the transmitter of the borehole survey tool 4 .
The drill tool has at the borehole survey tool 4 at least one signal transparent member 6 extending between the central flushing channel 3 and a circumferential outer surface 7 of the drill tool. By transparent is meant that said at least one signal transparent member 6 is permeable to signals originating from the transmitter 5 of the borehole survey tool 4.
The borehole survey tool 4 may be suspended in the central flushing channel 3 of the drill bit assembly 2 between a first damping means 8 and a second damping means 9 so that the first damping means 8 and a second damping means 9 are pre-compressed.
Said at least one signal transparent member 6 may be configured to prevent the borehole survey tool 4 from rotating with respect to the central flushing channel 3 by being in contact with the borehole survey tool 4 inside the central flushing channel 3. Additionally or alternatively, an elongated external member 26 such as pin, a bolt or a screw may be configured to prevent the borehole survey tool 4 from rotating with respect to the central flushing channel 3 by being in contact with the borehole survey tool 4 inside the central flushing channel 3, as is shown in figure 20.
The drill tool may comprise an opening 10 extending between a circumferential outer surface 7 of the drill tool and the central flushing channel 3, and said at least one signal transparent member 6 may be provided in the opening 10 so that the signal transparent member 6 forms a part of the circumferential outer surface 7 of the drill tool. The signal transparent member 6 may be provided in the opening 10 so that the circumferential outer surface 7 of the drill tool at the signal transparent member 6 has a recess 23 at the signal transparent member 6. A purpose of the recess 23 is to protect the signal transparent member from drill cuttings (not shown in the figures). The opening may be provided with grooves 24 into which the signal transparent member 6 extend for holding the signal transparent member 6 in place in the recess 23, as is shown in figure 19. Alternatively or additionally, the opening
20155092 prh 03 -05- 2018 may taper between the central flushing channel 3 and the circumferential outer surface 7 of the drill tool in the direction towards the circumferential outer surface 7 of the drill tool in order to prevent the signal transparent member 6 from moving in a radial direction in the opening
10.
The signal transparent member 6 may be made of polymer or porous metal.
Figures 1 and 2 shows a first embodiment of the drill tool.
In this first embodiment of the drill tool, an adapter 11 is provided between the drill string assembly 1 and the drill bit assembly 2. The adapter 11 is configured to connect the drill bit assembly 2 to the drill string assembly 1. The adapter 11 has a central flushing channel section 20 forming a part of the central flushing channel 3 of the drill tool, and a circumferential outer surface 7 of the adapter 11 forms a part of the circumferential outer surface 7 of the drill tool.
In this first embodiment of the drill tool, the borehole survey tool 4 is provided in the central flushing channel section 20 of the adapter 11.
In this first embodiment of the drill tool, said at least one signal transparent member 6 is provided in the adapter 11 so that said at least one signal transparent member 6 extends between the central flushing channel section 20 of the adapter 11 and the circumferential outer surface 7 of the adapter 11.
An advantage with this first embodiment of the drill tool is that the borehole survey tool
4 can be mounted/replaced in connection with the mounting/replacing of the drill bit assembly 2.
Another advantage with this first embodiment of the drill tool is that, provided that the adapter 11 is connected to a drill string of drill string assembly 1, which drill string having a full length, the number of connections, in which percussive impact is lost, is lower.

An advantage of this is that in case the drill head 21 of the drill bit assembly 2 is broken off during percussive drilling, the first male section 13a of the drill bit assembly 2 that is threaded into the first female thread 14a on the first female section 15a will prevent the borehole survey tool 4 from falling down into the borehole.
If the drill bit assembly 2 is provided with a first male thread 12a on a first male section 13a configured to connect the drill bit assembly 2 to a first female thread 14a on a first female section 15a of the adapter 11, the adapter 11 may comprise a first impact surface 16 abutting a second impact surface 17 of the drill bit assembly 2, so that the first impact surface 16 of the adapter 11 is formed of an end surface of the first female section 15a of the adapter 11, and so that the first impact surface 16 of the adapter 11 and the second impact surface 17 of the drill bit assembly 2 extends perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the drill tool. An advantage with this is that because the first impact surface 16 of the adapter 11 that hits on the second impact
20155092 prh 03 -05- 2018 surface 17 of the drill bit assembly 2 during percussive drilling will be formed of a female section, the drill tool will be strong.
hi this first embodiment of the drill tool, the adapter 11 may comprise a second female thread 14b on a second female section 15b configured to connect the adapter 11 to a second male thread 12b on a second male section 13b of the drill string assembly 1.
If the adapter 11 comprises a second female thread 14b on a second female section 15b configured to connect the adapter 11 to a second male thread 12b on a second male section 13b of the drill string assembly 1, an fourth impact surface 19 on the end of the second male section 13b of the drill string assembly 1, which fourth impact surface 19 extends perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the drill tool, may abut a third impact surface 18 on the bottom of the second female section 15b of the adapter 11, which third impact surface 18 extends perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the drill tool, as is shown in figures 1 and 2.
As a variant to what is shown in figures 1 and 2, if the adapter 11 comprises a second female thread 14b on a second female section 15b configured to connect the adapter 11 to a second male thread 12b on a second male section 13b of the drill string assembly 1, the adapter 11 may comprise a third impact surface 18 abutting a fourth impact surface 19 of the drill string assembly 1, so that the third impact surface 18 of the adapter 11 is formed of an end surface of the second female section 15b of the adapter 11 and so that the third impact surface 18 of the adapter 11 and the fourth impact surface 19 of the drill string assembly 1 extends perpendicularly to a longitudinal axis of the drill tool.
In this first embodiment of the drill tool, the borehole survey tool 4 may be suspended in the central flushing channel section 20 of the adapter 11 between a first damping means 8 and a second damping means 9 so that the first damping means 8 and a second damping means 9 are pre-compressed.
If the borehole survey tool 4 is suspended in the central flushing channel section 20 between a first damping means 8 and a second damping means 9 so that the first damping means 8 and a second damping means 9 are pre-compressed, the first damping means 8 may in this first embodiment of the drill tool be pre-compressed between the first male section 13a of the drill bit assembly 2 and the borehole survey tool 4.
If the borehole survey tool 4 is suspended in the central flushing channel section 20 of the adapter 11 between a first damping means 8 and a second damping means 9 so that the first damping means 8 and a second damping means 9 are pre-compressed, the second damping means 9 may in this first embodiment of the drill tool be pre-compressed between a collar 22 in the central flushing channel section 20 of the adapter 11 and the borehole survey tool 4, as is shown in figure 2. Alternatively, the second damping means 9 may be pre-compressed between the second male section 13b of the drill string assembly 1 and the borehole survey tool 4.
