The invention relates in particular to a process for manufacturing a presentation box of high mechanical strength from a prescored cut-out 1 of thin cardboard which can be offset printed and scored using customary mechanical or HF processes, characterized in that it consists in selectively strengthening the parts 25 to 29 of the cut-out 1 which are not crossed by a score line 6 to 8 and 16 to 22, with the aim of forming, on each side of the various score lines 6 to 8 and 16 to 22, non- strengthened parts which allow subsequent making-up of the box. This strengthening may be achieved by supplying offcuts of an auxiliary material which are deposited and sealed by HF on the parts to be strengthened or by total or partial impregnation of the cut-out 1 of cardboard with a curable polymerizable resin and HF processing which serves to produce localized curing of the resin in the parts to be strengthened. The invention applies in particular to the production of boxes for packaging heavy articles. Figure 1.
