Abstract

Part of the belt B is passed through the nip of a pair of driven rollers carried by a swingable arm 3. The rollers have a driving force K of which component K1 advances the belt and component K2 causes it to run true against a tendency to deviate laterally. Component K2 is adjustable by adjusting the angle of the rollers to the direction of travel and by adjusting the gripping force of the rollers by means of hydraulic cylinders 16. Control of the cylinders 16 can be through a valve assembly (Fig. 4) operated by a sensing lever in contact with the edge of the belt.
