Abstract
A heat exchanger, e.g. Fig. 4, comprises a network of tubes 1b formed integrally in a common wall 2, said wall being shaped to provide in said heat exchanger, vertical passageways (e.g. 7, 10, 11) interconnected to provide a circuitous path (e.g. Fig. 2) for a gas (e.g. a heating gas) in heat exchange with a liquid (e.g. water) flowing in the tubes 1b. The tubes may be connected at their ends to heaters 1a also formed in the wall 2. The wall 2 can be formed initially as a sheet e.g. Fig. 3, from two metal sheets (e.g. of aluminium or stainless steel) welded together face- to-face except at the header and tube- forming zones. The sheet is then bent along lines such as AA' to EE', II' and HH' to form the heat exchanger.
