Abstract

Equipment for the continuous wet-treatment of textile fabric in open width with a low liquor ratio has a liquor spray producing a fan-shaped stream of liquor which impinges on the moving fabric at an acute, but varying angle, assisting the transport and layering of the material. The fabric passes through a U-shaped chamber in contact with the liquor, whence it is drawn off, mangled, and may be subjected to repeated treatments in additional, similar chambers. The process gives high-quality results on low liquor ratios of 1:3 and relatively low throughput speeds of 80-120 m/min. The treatment is uniform across the width of the fabric and free from danger of setting-in creases or over-working the fabric. Rinsing efficiency is considerably increased, giving savings in time, and in water and energy consumption.
