Abstract

The connector is for batteries normally rechargeable lead-acid types with lead terminals. The switch and connector have a low overall geometry allowing the various operations normally associated with batteries to be carried out without removal of the connector. The connector consists of a metal strip (4) wrapped into a slightly tapered cylinder with upper and lower shoulders. The open ends of the cylinder are drawn together around the battery terminal (2) by a bolt (5) the head of which is trapped by a folded back section of the cylinder strip. The cable (8) coming into the connector does so via a ring terminal (7) having a dia. slightly greater than that of the bolt. This is integral with an internally threaded shaft (16) which when tightened forces it against the connector (13). Releasing the shaft opens the connection.
