Tensioning device for chains or similar elements, including an oblong and hollow guiding piece (1) having at one end (2) a fixing device (3) for eyelet link or similar element and at its other end, or a nut coupled with an endless screw (5) inserted in the cavity of the guide part in its longitudinal direction, or a rotary device (4) for the screw (5), and also a housing or sliding part (8) that can be moved longitudinally along the guide piece (1) and having at its end away from the eyelet fixing device (3) either in a rotary mounting device (4) for the screw, or a nut (10) coupled with it, whereby, when the screw is rotated, the sliding part (8) and the guiding part (1) can move relative to each other, said device being characterized in that the endless screw (5), in its tip (4) away from the fixing device the eyelet (3) of the guide part (1) is provided with a suitably parallelepiped power take-off (11) which is intended to be coupled according to the gear reduction principle with a motor-driven unit (17), and in that the housing or sliding part (8) is provided with a fixing device (7) located in the plane of the screw for an eyelet link of a chain or similar element (14) and having at least one clamping (6) in the housing (8) which is located eccentrically in relation to the worm (5), so that the power take-off, not hindered by the tension chain or similar element that extends beyond it, can be coupled with the motor driven unit (17).
