Abstract
A process for the hydrodesulfurization of a petroleum oil by contacting said oil with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst, characterized in that said catalyst comprises an iron group metal, or a compound thereof, and a Group VI metal, or a compound thereof, supported on a base consisting of a refractory inorganic oxide and said contact is carried out at a temperature comprised between 750 and 850ºF (399 and 454ºC) and a space velocity of about 3 to 10 v/v/h.
