Abstract

Procedure for chlorbromar polybutadiene polybutadiene or a butadiene-isoprene copolymer, to impart to the same improvements thermostability and fire retardant properties, characterized in that it comprises: mixing approximately equimolar amounts of bromine and chlorine with each other at a temperature of 0º to 15ºC so that form bromine chloride, mixing said borm chloride and polybutadiene or said copolymer so as to provide a reaction mixture thereof, and maintaining said reaction mezcal at a temperature of 0º to 150ºC for a period of time sufficient to achieve incorporating at least 55% by weight of chlorine and bromine atoms into the molecular structure of said polybutadiene or said copolymer such that every two monomeric units of the polybutadiene or said copolymer contain at least one chlorine atom and at least one bromine atom (Machine-translation by Google Translate, not legally binding)
