Improvements in machines for the continuous smelting of metals, characterized in that said machine has an endless flexible band guided in intimate relationship with a part of the peripheral channel of a rotary casting wheel, guided to separate it from the peripheral channel and returned on the same side of the casting wheel to the peripheral channel by means of a plurality of band guide wheels of practically the same diameter and a band positioning wheel of smaller diameter than the band guide wheels located adjacent to the periphery of the rotary casting wheel and arranged to exert pressure on the flexible strip in direct contact with the casting wheel, the ratio between the thickness of the flexible strip and the diameter of the positioning wheel of the strip being less than 1:90.
