Abstract

A procedure for the continuous polymerization in maca of acrylic polymer, which consists of: (a) introducing into a reaction zone a stream consisting essentially of menomeric methyl methacrylate and a polymer syrup consisting of polymer containing monomeric units derived from monomeric methylmethacrylate, an initiator and a telogen, said stream containing between 30 and 80% of monomeric components and entering the reaction zone at a temperature of 120º to 170ºC, (b) advancing said current through said reaction zone at a current temperature comprised between 120º and 200ºC, with a substantially uniform temperature increase totaling between 10º and 30ºC and maintaining the reaction zone in substantially adiabatic conditions, (c) extracting from said zone a polymer syrup containing between 25 and 75% polymer.
