Abstract

A device for supporting a core N in a centrifugal mould M comprises a housing having a non-rotating part 8 and a rotating part 9 extending from which is at least one arm 12 carrying a support ring 13 for the core, a jack or piston and cylinder unit 16 carried by the non-rotating part 8 and whose piston-rod 17 extends axially through the part 8, and coreseizing means journalled at the end of the rod 17 and including pivotal claws 21 provided with heels 28 which, by abutment against the ring 13, automatically pivot the claws so that screws 27 engage the inner face of the core N. The claws are rotatably mounted on the piston-rod 17 by a pivot pin 22 carried by a lug 23 fixed to a member 18 which has a screw 19 engaged in a groove 20 in the rod. Springs (24) located on the member 18 bias the claws so that their arms are at rest roughly parallel to the axis X-X. The whole device is carried by an arm B attached to a shaft (D) and is movable toward and away from the mould by a piston and cylinder unit (W), Fig. 1 (not shown). The shaft (D) is partially rotatable by another piston and cylinder unit (V). The piston-rod 17 and thus the claws 21 are withdrawn after the core has been clamped in position in the mould.
