A method of stressing a substantially u-section bushing part of an electrical connector to the end of a cable, the connector forming part of a strip of electrical connectors arranged in a strip-by-side fashion, comprising the operations of feeding a connector connector strip to an upsetting station, placing a wire end inside the u-section bushing part of the connector, moving a upsetting matrix relative to the upsetting anvil to cooperate therewith, to emphasize the bushing part to the end of the cable and cutting the upset connector of the strip, characterized in that the connector has a contact portion, at least a portion of which extends beyond the base of the bushing portion in the form of u, in the opposite direction to that in which the u arms extend from the bushing part, and why the anvil is moved when the connector has reached the post and stressed, from a position referred to a position in which the working surface of the anvil is located adjacent to the base of the U-shaped bushing part, to support the base during the upsetting operation.
