Abstract
In a system having a sectionalized network with an individual marker per section, at least some of the last-stage multiple switches in one section are duplicated having their inlets connected in parallel to those of their partner and having their outlets connected to the outlets of multiple switches in another section whereby increased accessibility is obtained. The Figure shows a two section network GRE1, GRE2 having individual markers M1, M2 wherein the inlets ell-eln, e21-e2n normally have access only to outlets 1a11- 1a1n, 1a21-1a2n respectively. A last stage switch such as 1D in section GRE is duplicated at 2D 1 whose inlets are in parallel with those of 1D1 but whose (second order) outlets 2a11 extend to the main (first order) outlets of a switch in the other section. During the setting- up of a connection, central control ST may find no free junctions VL in a wanted direction and directly accessible to a caller ES or, having found such a junction (by interrogating additional section control circuit VP1) it may happen that the section marker cannot find a path thereto. In either case, ST interrogates the control circuit VP2 of another section having the required direction junctions and which is multipled to the calling section. The result of the interrogation is passed to the calling section marker which then attempts to set-up a connection to one of the section's relevant second order outlets. The possibility of using more extra switches to provide higher order outlets and the question of unequal size sections are touched-on.
