Abstract

A fan comprises a pair of coaxially disposed centrifugal impellers mounted within a casing with a single driving motor mounted between them, the casing having means on it whereby it can be suspended from above at various angles so that air can be discharged downwardly from a tangential outlet in a required direction. As shown in Fig. 1, the suspension means may comprise hooks 13, pins &c. which can be engaged by a chain 14, apertured strap &c. The common driving motor 5 for the two centrifugal impellers 7 is mounted by means of rubber or the like resilient noise-reducing supports 10, Fig. 4, which fit into apertures 11 formed in the walls 4 of two central casing sections 20, 21. The walls 4 are joined to the peripheral walls of the casing sections 20, 21 by apertured webs 26 which permit a cooling circulation of air around the motor 5. The casing sections 20, 21 are joined together by spigots in section 20 engaging sockets in section 21. The casing sections 20, 21, end sections 22, 23 and a discharge grille 3 are plastics mouldings. A switch 28 is mounted on the grille 3. A tubular lamp 30 may be provided and may have a fixed or adjustable shade 31.
