Abstract

A feedwater preheater for steam turbine plants comprises a plurality of preheater elements each comprising a base member 13 defining feedwater inlet and outlet chambers 14 connected to common inlet and outlet headers 7, 9, a nest of tubes 35 in communication with the chambers 14, and a steam jacket 23, 33, enclosing the tubes, the nest 35 and jacket 23, 33, being separable from the base member 13. The jacket comprises a member 23, connected by a flange 21 to a flange 15 on the member 13, and a dome 33 connected through a flange 31 to the upper flange 29 of member 23. Steam enters at 25 and leaves at 27.
