A control arrangement for a turbine powered by motor fluid from a pressure source comprising: a primary valve connected to control the flow of motor fluid from said pressure source to said turbine, an additional valve connected to control the flow of motor fluid from said source so as to adjust any imbalance between the passage of the engine fluid generated by the pressure source at a given pressure and the passage of engine fluid required by the turbine at a given load, first means responsive to the fluid pressure and a first pilot valve governed by it, second means responsive to the speed of said turbine and including a second pilot valve governed by it, a primary servo-motor jointly governed by said first and second pilot valves and arranged for move said primary valve to a more open position by increasing the pressure of the engine fluid or decreasing the turbine speed, respectively, said pilot valves being connected so that the pilot valve requiring the lowest position of the primary valve overcomes the other pilot valve to exert control over the primary servo motor alone; the pilot valve passed is moved in an unrestricted manner, whereby the movement of the pilot valve exceeded indicates a potential imbalance in the passage of motor fluid between the pressure source and the turbine, and an additional servo-motor connected to drive said additional valve to correct this imbalance in response to movements of the pilot valve exceeded.
