Abstract

Fibre boards are humidified by directing jets of substantially saturated air at right angles against both surfaces of the boards with the humidifying operation being carried out in at least two stages, separated by a time interval to equalize the moisture content in the board, each stage having a different temperature. As shown air is circulated by a fan 3 past water sprays 6 and passes through apertures 15 in partitioning boxes 11 thereby impinging at right angles upon the surface of fibre boards 13 which are conveyed through the apparatus on conveyors 12.
