Abstract

The invention relates to a roof-covering element with a suspension strip and foot rib, the roof-covering element having in its masked longitudinal edge region ribs, on which the masking longitudinal edge region of the adjacent roof-covering element rests by means of supporting surfaces, the rib crowns of the ribs located next to one another each assuming a progressively lower level from the outside inwards, and associated supporting surfaces each being located at a progressively higher level from the outside inwards, the respectively higher rib merging into the respectively lower rib, and a spacing being provided between the side face of the roof-covering element and a limiting face, opposite this side face, of the masking longitudinal edge region of the adjacent roof-covering element. To improve the laying capabilities, according to the invention the supporting surfaces (1, 2, 3) arranged in steps in the masking longitudinal edge region (8) are connected via inclined intermediate surfaces (12, 12a), and, with the longitudinal edge regions (7, 8) masked or engaging into one another, there is a free space for a lateral relative movement of the ribs (4, 5, 6) in relation to the supporting surfaces (1, 2, 3) between the rib flanks (4a, 5a) and the intermediate surfaces (12, 12a) connecting the supporting surfaces (1, 2, 3).
