Abstract
Improved process for the formation of phosphatic coatings on metal surfaces, characterized in that the surface to be treated is immersed in a solution containing 0.1 to 2% around zinc, 0.3 to 4% around PO4 ion, 0.1 to 1% around iron and 0.122 to 2% around at least one saturated polycarboxylic aliphatic acid containing from 2 to 6 carbon atoms, the carbon atom adjacent to at least one carboxyl group being replaced by a radical hydroxyl, amino, or carboxy and why the surface is maintained in the solution until a corrosion-resistant coating is formed on said surface.
