Aminas pobres en VOC como componente tensioactivo en dispersiones
Objeto de la presente invención son aminas pobres en VOC, inodoras, a base de materias primas renovables como agentes de neutralización y estabilización para dispersiones acuosas.
Según el estado de la técnica, en pinturas acuosas de dispersión se utilizan típicamente soluciones amoniacales o aminas tales como 2-amino-2-metil-1-propanol como álcalis. Compuestos de este tipo destacan, sin embargo, por su típico olor a amina y su contenido en vOc. Dado que compuestos orgánicos volátiles de este tipo favorecen, junto con la radiación UV y NOx, la formación de ozono, se promulgaron en muchos países decretos para la reducción del contenido en VOC (p. ej. 2004/42/EG). Más allá de la protección del medio ambiente, estos decretos sirven para la protección de la población frente a perjuicios sanitarios por parte de sustancias nocivas del aire.
El documento WO 2013/123153 describe tensioactivos no iónicos con una o varias funciones amina, así como una o varias cadenas de alquilo como parte hidrofílica.
La capacidad de neutralización de trihidroxi-monoaminas o bien trihidroxi-diaminas en pinturas acuosas se describe en el documento WO 2010/126657 o bien US 2010/0326320. Asimismo, se describen las propiedades de las pinturas y revestimientos resultantes en relación con la viscosidad, fuerza de cubrición, amarilleamiento, brillo, resistencia a la abrasión por desgaste y el poder adherente.
Carboxidiaminas se describen en el documento WO 2014/003969 y están en condiciones de actuar como agente neutralizante pobre en VOC en pinturas, revestimientos y productos de limpieza. No obstante, las carboxidiaminas sólo pueden obtenerse mediante síntesis multi-etapas a partir de materias primas petroquímicas.
Los documentos EP 0614881, US 5229770 y US 2016962 describen métodos para la preparación de glucaminas a partir de glucosa.
El documento EP 1676831 describe, en general, la preparación de dialquilglucaminas terciarias tales como dietilglucamina y su uso como tensioactivo en pinturas acuosas, pero sin indicar un ejemplo concreto.
La presente invención se basó en la misión de encontrar aminas que se preparen a partir de materias primas renovables y con cuya ayuda se pueda regular el valor del pH, con el fin de poder fabricar así pinturas de dispersión acuosas. Además, las aminas deben estar exentas de VOC.
Sorprendentemente, se encontró que esto es posible con aminas a base de la materia prima renovable glucosa. Objeto de la invención es, por lo tanto, una dispersión que contiene (A) al menos un compuesto de la fórmula (I)
(B) y
(C)
en donde R1 representa H un aglutinante polimérico
alquilo C1-C4, CH2CH2OH o CH2CH(CHa)OH,
agua.
La dispersión puede contener, además de ello, componentes habituales de pinturas de dispersión acuosas. Componentes habituales pueden ser: pigmentos, en donde con el término “pigmento” se quiere dar a entender tanto pigmentos como cargas en un sentido amplio, y coadyuvantes. Los coadyuvantes pueden ser, entre otros, agentes humectantes y dispersantes, antiespumantes, biocidas, agentes de coalescencia, así como aditivos de reología.
El compuesto (I) es una polihidroxi-amina, en donde R1 puede ser H, alquilo C1-C4, CH2CH2OH o CH2CH(CH3)OH. Preferiblemente, R1 es H, metilo o CH2CH2OH. La unidad polihidroxi es una hexosa, preferiblemente el epímero glucosa. El procedimiento para la preparación de las alquilglucaminas de la fórmula (I) es ampliamente conocido por el experto en la materia. Este tiene lugar para compuestos con R = alquilo C1 a C4, por ejemplo, conforme al método indicado en el documento EP-A-1676831, mediante alquilación reductora de N-alquilpolihidroxilaminas con aldehídos o cetonas en presencia de hidrógeno y de un catalizador de metal de transición. Hidroxietil- e hidroxipropil-N-metil- glucamina puede prepararse mediante reacción de N-metilglucamina con óxido de etileno o bien óxido de propileno en solución acuosa. Los compuestos de la fórmula (I) pueden emplearse como sustancias puras o en forma de

soluciones acuosas. Dado que las aminas terciarias tales como dimetilglucamina, hidroxietil- e hidroxipropil-N-metil- glucamina son poco propensas para la formación de nitrosaminas, éstas se han de preferir para las dispersiones de acuerdo con la invención.
Los aglutinantes poliméricos, componente (B), son homopolímeros o copolímeros de monómeros olefínicamente insaturados. Monómeros olefínicamente insaturados preferidos son, por ejemplo
- monómeros vinílicos tales como ésteres del ácido carboxílico del alcohol vinílico, por ejemplo acetato de vinilo, propionato de vinilo, viniléteres del ácido isononanoico o del ácido isodecanoico, que también se denominan ácidos versáticos Cg y C10,
- olefinas sustituidas con arilo tales como estireno y estilbeno,

El agua utilizada para la preparación de las dispersiones acuosas de acuerdo con la invención, componente (C), se emplea preferiblemente en forma de agua destilada o desalada. También puede emplearse agua potable (agua del grifo) y/o agua de origen natural.
Pigmentos adecuados son pigmentos blancos o de color, finamente divididos, orgánicos o inorgánicos, o una mezcla de diferentes pigmentos de este tipo. Agentes humectantes y dispersantes adecuaos son, preferiblemente, sales de poliacrilato, copolímeros de acrilato y MAS, etoxilatos de alquilfenol y sustancias sustitutivas de etoxilato de alquilfenol tales como derivados de Guerbet, derivados de ácidos grasos y alcoholes grasos, en particular sus alcoxilatos, así como homopolímeros y copolímeros de OE/OP y de bloques y polisiloxanéteres.
Agentes antiespumantes adecuados son, preferiblemente, antiespumantes de aceites minerales y sus emulsiones, antiespumantes de aceite de silicona y emulsiones de aceite de silicona, polialquilenglicoles, ésteres de ácidos grasos de polialquilenglicol, ácidos grasos, alcoholes polihídricos superiores, ésteres del ácido fosfórico, sílice modificada de modo hidrofóbico, triestearato de aluminio, ceras de polietileno y ceras de amida.
Biocidas adecuados para impedir una reproducción incontrolada de bacterias, algas y hongos son formaldehido, compuestos que disocian formaldehido, metilisotiazolinona, clorometilisotiazolinona, benzisotiazolinona, bronopol, dibromodicianobutano y dióxido de titanio revestido con cloruro de plata.
Agentes de coalescencia adecuados son ésteres y cetonas tales como benzoatos y butiratos, así como éter- alcoholes y glicoles. En particular, se han de mencionar como agentes de coalescencia mono-iso-butirato de 2,2,4- trimetil-pentan-1,3-diol, butilglicol, butildiglicol, butildipropilenglicol, propilenglicolbutiléter y dipropilenglicolbutiléter.
Aditivos de reología adecuados como agentes para la regulación de la viscosidad son, p. ej., derivados de almidón y celulosa y espesantes de uretano etoxilados modificados de modo hidrofóbico (HEUR), espesantes de acrilato expansibles por álcalis, espesantes de acrilato modificados de modo hidrofóbico, polímeros del ácido acrilamidometilpropanosulfónico o ácido silícico pirógeno.
Una perspectiva sobre coadyuvantes habituales la proporcionan Wernfried Heilen et al. en “Additive für wassrige Lacksysteme”, aparecida en Vincentz Network, 2009.
Otro objeto de la invención es un procedimiento para la reducción de la separación de fases de dispersiones entre la fase acuosa y la fase sólida, que es familiar como sinéresis para el experto en la materia, disolviendo el compuesto de la fórmula (I) y eventualmente agentes de coalescencia, antiespumantes, biocidas, aditivos de reología, así como agentes humectantes y/o dispersantes en agua. Si se requieren pigmentos, entonces estos se dispersan para ello bajo un elevado cizallamiento. La composición obtenida de esta manera se mezcla agitando a continuación con un aglutinante polimérico y eventualmente con otros coadyuvantes bajo una tasa de cizallamiento baja. Para ello, como agregado de dispersión pueden utilizarse mecanismos agitadores, disolvedores, mezcladores rápidos o sistemas de aparatos de amasado, preferiblemente un disolvedor con agitador de dientes de sierra. La preparación arriba mencionada puede tener lugar a temperaturas de 0 a 100°C, convenientemente a 10 hasta 70°C, preferiblemente a 20 hasta 40°C.
El compuesto de la fórmula (I) está presente preferiblemente en una concentración de 0,01% a 10%, en particular de 0,01% a 5,0%, en especial de 0,01% a 1,0%.
Además de ello, el procedimiento puede utilizarse también para el ajuste del valor del pH. Para ello, puede añadirse a la dispersión, tanto al comienzo como durante el proceso de dispersión y formulación, una cantidad suficiente del compuesto de la fórmula (I), de modo que se obtiene un valor del pH entre 7 y 11.
Una propiedad particular de la dispersión de acuerdo con la invención es la aportación exenta de VOC y poco olorosa del compuesto de la fórmula (I) a la formulación global.
Las dispersiones de acuerdo con la invención se adecuan para la producción de revestimientos de todo tipo. Particularmente, las dispersiones de acuerdo con la invención se adecuan para la preparación de pinturas y pinturas de dispersión, barnices de dispersión, sustancias adhesivas.
Ejemplos
Los datos en porcentaje en esta memoria descriptiva son porcentajes en peso, referidos al peso de la composición total en la medida en que no se indique otra cosa.
Ejemplos 1 - 5 (Ejemplos Comparativos) y Ejemplos 6 - 7 en pintura de acetato de vinilo-VeoVa-acrilato:

Los componentes 1 - 14 se dispersaron mediante adición sucesiva bajo una elevada tasa de cizallamiento. A continuación, se incorporaron con agitación, bajo una baja tasa de cizallamientos, los componentes 15 - 18.
Para evaluar las pinturas, se evaluó el valor del pH, la viscosidad, la estabilidad frente a la congelación- 10 descongelación y el desgaste por abrasión en húmedo. Con el fin de simular la estabilidad al almacenamiento, la pintura se almacenó durante una semana a 60 °C, así como se evaluó la formación de sinéresis, el valor del pH y la viscosidad. Para ello, los parámetros se determinaron de la siguiente manera.
El valor del pH se determinó mediante un electrodo de pH de la razón social Knick (SE 100N) a continuación de la formulación de la pintura y después de 1 semana a 60 °C.
15 La viscosidad se determinó en un aparato Haake Viscotester 550 de ThermoScientific.
La estabilidad a la abrasión en húmedo se determinó de manera correspondiente a las normas DIN EN ISO 11998 y DIN EN 13300 en una película de pintura de 200 |jm después del secado durante 1 semana a temperatura ambiente.
Para la determinación de la estabilidad frente a la congelación-descongelación, una muestra de la pintura se congeló a -18 °C y a continuación se descongeló de nuevo. Esto se repitió las veces necesarias hasta que no se podían 5 reconocer daños permanentes. Se evaluó el número de los ciclos estables a la congelación-descongelación.
Para la determinación de la sinéresis se introdujo la misma cantidad de pintura en un recipiente aforado. A continuación, se leyó la cantidad de agua separada después de almacenamiento de 1 semana a 60 °C y se documentó como porcentaje de la cantidad de pintura.

Se pudo demostrar que mediante la adición de las aminas, en todos los casos la pintura proporcionaba un valor de pH de 8 a 10. Además de ello, los resultados en las Tablas 3 y 4 demuestran que las pinturas presentan un perfil de

propiedades equiparable en relación con la viscosidad, el desgaste por abrasión en húmedo y la estabilidad de congelación-descongelación. En relación con la formación de sinéresis pudo observarse que NMG y DMG reducen de manera significativa la sinéresis en comparación con las aminas comparativas.
El contenido en VOC de las aminas se determinó de manera correspondiente a la norma DIN EN ISO 17895 para un 5 contenido en VOC de 0,1% a 15%, o bien de manera correspondiente a la norma DIN EN ISO 11890-2 para un contenido en VOC de 0,01% a 0,1%. El olor se determinó de manera olfativa en las muestras. El contenido en VOC y el olor de la amina comparativa amoníaco, monoetanolamina (MEA), DEA, TEA, AMP-95 y Genamin® CH-020, así como de las aminas NMG y DMG de acuerdo con la invención está recopilado en la Tabla 5.
