Description
Procedure for obtaining lightened plaster with foamed polyurethane residues.
Objeto de la invención Object of the invention
The present invention is part of the Construction and Building sector within the field of New Materials, and its objective is the use of residues of rigid polyurethane foams, coming from industrial waste and its incorporation into the plaster to manufacture new lightweight construction materials . Foamed polymeric residues are mixed after grinding at different granulometries with the plaster to be used.
In addition to the improvement in acoustic insulation derived from the use of these wastes, the use of foams as thermal insulation in construction means energy savings in building air conditioning and a decrease in pollutant emissions (CO2 and SO2), thus contributing to mitigate the greenhouse effect and acid rain. In addition, because they are insoluble in water, foamed products do not emit water-soluble substances that can contaminate the water or plaster with which the mixture is made.
Antecedentes de la invención Background of the invention
The importance of recycling and revaluing polymeric or plastic waste generated in industrialized societies is essential due to the significant environmental impact that these residues cause, together with their high useful life. Foam polymers, including polyurethane, are materials that are widely used in numerous fields and in a wide variety of products. This is mainly due to its excellent qualities and properties, among which its high capacity for protection (shock absorption) and thermal and acoustic insulation, as well as its lightness and ease of forming that allow it to adapt to the needs of each situation.
Foamed polyurethane is considered and used independently as an insulator in the construction sector. Therefore, it is logical to think that the use and recycling of this material (with a prior crushing) and mixed with plaster could compete with other more traditional products, including efficient and effective thermal and acoustic insulating properties in manufacturing. These properties, together with the fact that plaster is a bad conductor of heat and electricity, make this material a suitable compound for use as a construction material.
The lightened construction plaster according to the definition UNE-EN-13279-1: 2009, is composed of a mixture of calcium sulfate in its different phases of dehydration (anhydrite, hemihydrate or dihydrate) and purity (traditionally referred to as coarse plaster, gypsum or plaster), with a certain content of lime (calcium hydroxide), which incorporates inorganic light aggregates (such as expanded perlite or vermiculite, for example)
o agregados ligeros orgánicos, a los que debe añadirse agua de amasado para su puesta en obra. or light organic aggregates, to which kneading water must be added for commissioning.
The use of raw and inert materials of different densities for the manufacture of light plasters is widely known and exploited since ancient times. However, the benefits that rigid polyurethane foams can provide in the properties of these products with respect to agglomerates made of traditional materials, is a clearly innovative aspect.
With the proposed alternative, it is intended to obtain light plaster consisting mainly of calcium sulfate in its different dehydration and purity phases, and replacing the traditional light additives and aggregates that are incorporated in the factory (such as expanded perlite or vermiculite) with waste of crushed polyurethane foams, to achieve better performance and in accordance with current regulations. The mixture obtained is kneaded with water at the time of its commissioning.
In addition to the decrease in density with respect to traditional plaster, with the introduction of crushed polyurethane foam a significant increase in permeability is achieved, which is considered a very important advantage in order to avoid condensation (especially favorable if the material subject to the invention is used as a coating on limestone type rocks).
In this way, a process of manufacturing light plaster is achieved in a simple and efficient way, together with a non-negative economic profitability and a process of simple obtaining and available to anyone, so that the proposal is attractive to use.
Descripción de la invención Description of the invention
The light plaster object of the invention is manufactured by dosing different percentages of plaster by volume (therefore the possibility of using any type of plaster according to UNE-EN 13279-1: 2009, Table 1) is included, with various amounts of rigid foam of crushed polyurethane and water for kneading.
The obtaining and characterization of the light material is carried out by the previous characterization of the foam (physical, chemical and microstructural characterization) and the characterization of the light plaster in the fresh state and in the hardened state in accordance with the current European regulations.
The dosage depends on the use that will be given to the material (as an example, the amount of foam will be increased if there is no mechanical requirement but an important need for thermal or acoustic insulation). For subsequent kneading, a water / plaster ratio is considered according to UNE-EN 13279-2: 2006.
Both in the fresh state and in the hardened state the material complies with all applicable specifications and standards.
