Abstract
Discharge splint to prevent and relieve the effects of bruxism is composed of a structure that fits the internal structure of the mouth so that it is fixed in front by the presence of the incisors thanks to a wall (1) that circles the arch dental whose base (8) is more bulky in the wall sector and which in turn decreases its thickness in the central (11) and upper (9) direction; it also has a central posterior curvature (12) that leaves room for the tongue which in turn serves as fixation; laterally it is fixed by the lateral fins of the invention that also prevent the invention from being handled by the tongue during sleep. These fixings also make it easier to extract and position in the mouth. It has a thickened structure in front and less thick posterior (Figure 7) that favors the contact of the anterior portion of the dental arches in the first place and makes it easier to retain the chewing pressure and thus avoid excessive contact between dental arches during bruxism ; its conformation also creates a space that prevents excessive contact of the mandibular condyle (14) with its cranial contact (2) so that bruxism damage of the thin cranial layer (6) that separates the glena (2) from the Condylar is avoided mandibular (14). The invention aims to relieve pain and symptoms secondary to bruxism such as trigeminal neuralgia, tinnitus or tinnitus, vertigo, swelling of the glena (14) and derived painful symptoms. Given the idea that a splint only gets the user to clench their teeth with greater force, it is important to emphasize that this invention is based on the action of proprioceptors activated by a force that is not even as powerful as clenching the molars because the opposite resistance by the invention is applied at a distance from the point of application of the masticatory force, which makes said force much less.
Description
Discharge splint to prevent and relieve the effects of bruxism.
Antecedentes de la invención Introducción Background of the invention Introduction
Muchos síntomas dolorosos, tales como un tipo de neuralgia de trigémino, dolor migrañoso The Temporal Mandibular Joint (ATM) has two well-defined points of contact: the mandibular condyle and the cranial surface where it is housed; both play an important role in the syndrome called bruxism; This involves grinding your teeth overnight. This process wears teeth and causes not only gingival inflammation and loss of teeth; It can also be related to headaches and painful conditions of apparently unknown etiology. Anatomically, both contact surfaces are separated by a disc (meniscus) that allows movement and maintains a physiological distance. The natural process of chewing normally takes about thirty minutes and then the gum rests to recover its occlusion. Bruxism, however, keeps the masticatory process active for long periods during the night, which affects the entire masticatory system causing inflammation and wear: bruxism wears or displaces the mandibular condyle disc approaching the contact surfaces; at the same time it decreases the distances between alveolar bone and tooth. Under physiological conditions, the teeth are inserted into soft tissue within the mandibular alveolus without being in contact with the mandibular bone; when chewing, the gum gives in to the pressure and then the tooth recovers that distance after the chewing process. Chronic bruxism presses the teeth against the soft tissue eliminating that buffer space allowing contact between tooth and alveolar bone necrosing the underlying tissue and further contributing to decrease the space between condyle and glena. The wear of dental crowns also contributes to this. This causes the mandibular condyle to become increasingly embedded in the glena during chewing because the chewing muscular mechanism has a fixed displacement (myofrils displacement inside the sarcomere), since during muscle contraction the fibers run through constant distance in a space that has become smaller; therefore, displacement of the lower jaw (mandibular condyle) brings the masticatory pressure to the depth of the skull; the thin bone layer that separates the gland from the cranial interior (6); resents this stimulus and can respond with a local inflammatory reaction or an osteoclast-osteoblast repair process that can affect structures located inside the skull on the other side of the glena (2) where the semilunar ganglion and the nerve branches that cross that space, the ear and nerve vascular bundles that can carry their consequences to distal sites, among others. Many painful symptoms, such as a type of trigeminal neuralgia, migraine pain
The proposed invention aims to prevent the consequences of bruxism by increasing the distance between glena and mandibular condyle during sleep or during the day as a therapeutic healing action, by means of a system that serves as a flexible pad that dampens the pressure of the nocturnal masticatory action of bruxism, in a way that allows the recovery of the elasticity of the gum and does not affect the thin glenoid-cranial bone surface; It also prevents the inconvenience of splints with a fixed and rigid structure.
Descripción de la intenciónDescription of the intention
Mecanismo de acción de la invención The Discharge Splint to Prevent and Relieve the Effects of Bruxism, as expressed in the statement of this specification refers to a structure of flexible material con fi gured in an apparatus that is inserted into the mouth and coincides with the situation of the arches teeth so that by clenching the jaws during the period of bruxism during sleep, the distance between glenoid bone (2) and mandibular bone (14) prevents contact between these surfaces; the maintenance of this space will avoid the painful symptoms and consequences mentioned above. The invention has a structure that conforms to the anatomy and arrangement of the mouth organs; the lower structure has a surface that decreases in thickness from the outside in and from the front to the back (11), at the same time its medial configuration is arranged in a curve (11), which adapts to the normal posture of the tongue, allowing the coexistence of the invention and language in the oral space; serving the tongue of the maintainer of the correct position between the dental arches; its external structure has a surface that has a platform (8) that will serve to accommodate the arches, of greater thickness to serve as a damping spring in contact with the teeth; This thickness decreases in the posterior and medial direction to allow its coexistence with the tongue. Mechanism of action of the invention
Breve descripción de los dibujosThe Discharge Splint to Prevent and Relieve the Effects of Bruxism, object of the invention, acts on the chewing mechanism in order to avoid excessive pressure between glena (2) and mandibular condyle (14) during the bruxism process. It is also about damping the pressure exerted by the masticatory muscles on the teeth by providing a flexible surface (8) that allows the action of proprioceptors that perceive the pressure on the teeth during the chewing process. The bite force vectors form a type of ABC lever (Figure 5), where A is a fulcrum (mandibular condyle) (14), B is the traction point (chewing muscles) and C, the result of the force applied in B (occlusion), where it is fulfilled that at a greater distance from the point of application of the force there will be less traction. Which means that the greater the distance from the muscle, masseter, the easier it will be to avoid closing the jaw because its strength is weakened in the distal direction (incisors) because the arm of the moment of force is greater. Therefore, at the mandibular anterior level, the proposed invention will have greater ease in retaining and reducing the pressure action of the masticatory muscles. Brief description of the drawings

Description of the preferred embodiment
The Discharge Splint to Prevent and Relieve the Effects of Bruxism has a curved structure, following the shape of the dental arches. Thus, the invention has a wall (1), a base (8) that decreases in thickness as it approaches its ends (13) following the arrangement of the dental arch itself. Its objective is to increase the distance between condyle (14) and glena (2) in addition to producing other stimuli when clenching teeth; at the time of clenching the teeth the proprioceptors located in the gum "warn" of excess pressure; the masticatory force in the anterior region of the arch is smaller (Figure 5), so that the invention has a previously increased medial basal thickness (8) and decreases in lateral and distal direction to prevent the masseter's force from being fully manifested on the posterior occlusion (15) closer to the application of force. The invention substantially reduces the pressure of the masticatory muscles on the occlusion and at the same time maintains a space between arches during the occlusion; on the other hand it eliminates the bruxistic pressure on the thin cranial layer that separates the outside of the inside of the skull in that region; at the same time the arrangement of the lingual internal anterior wall
- (1) (one)
The invention presents a profile (13) that follows the internal con fi guration of the mouth including the position of the tongue at rest and the anterior topography of the palate, adapting by means of an internal sheet of different configuration externally and internally (11) and (13) forming a thin layer that will contact the tongue at rest during sleep; It also includes a central space (12) that will leave room for the position of the medial tongue. The invention is presented in such a way that its transverse dimension is slightly larger than the transverse dimension of the dental arches; The purpose of this provision is to "fix it" into the oral cavity and further diminish the limited possibility of swallowing it; Its flexible structure in the form of a letter "U", is compressed when entering and expands laterally inside the mouth looking for support points. We have then that the invention Discharge Splint to Relieve and Prevent the Effects of Bruxism comprises the following con fi guration: a wall that surrounds it externally (1) intended to be in contact with the vertical portion of the teeth as a fastener against the portion vestibular of the mouth; The invention further comprises a greater thickness in its frontal structure compared to the dorsal one so that when the occlusion is closed, it can first receive the pressure of the anterior pieces before the dorsal portion of the dental arch; this prevents the molars from receiving the entire load of the masticatory muscle (15); the surrounding dorsal portion of the invention is smaller than the front portion
- (13) (13)
Ambos métodos presentan limitaciones que la invención pretende resolver ofreciendo además una composición inocua para el cuerpo, sin provocar laceraciones bucales, debido a su estructura flexible y and designed in a curved way to adapt gently to the position of the tongue that will in turn serve as an additional fixator and help to keep the invention safe for breathing and mouth. There are treatments against bruxism in the form of medications such as muscle relaxants that are recommended before going to bed at night and splints made to measure by a dental laboratory; splints tailored to the arch are made of material that the user deems hard and lacerating and does not completely produce the desired effect since the patient usually removes it due to the pain caused by the lateral movements of bruxism. For its part, the muscle relaxant affects the entire muscular system causing unwanted effects. Both methods have limitations that the invention intends to solve by also offering a harmless composition for the body, without causing mouth lacerations, due to its flexible structure and
(14). The discharge splint can also be worn during the day to favor the repairing process of the system, the discharge splint aims to relieve pain and symptoms secondary to bruxism such as trigeminal neuralgia, tinnitus or tinnitus, vertigo, gland inflammation (Figure 5, 14-A) and derived painful symptoms.
