Abstract
A system for desalinating sea water uses inverse osmosis with an osmosis membrane (1), and one or more double effect cylinders (2), each with two pistons (21) joined by a common rod (22) and describing alternating pumping movement impelling sea water towards the membrane. A pump (3) is provided, moving sea water towards the cylinders. Directional valves (4,5) determine the circulation of water in the interior of the system. Devices drive the valves in function of the direction of displacement of the pistons. Optionally, a motor component acts via a connecting rod-crank mechanism on the rods, collaborating in the alternating displacement of the pistons.
