Abstract

The invention proposes a transmission joint of the type including an element with several arms, particularly in the form of a tripod, in which the arms are joined, by welding, close to their outer radial ends, to a portion of substantially cylindrical shape of a connecting bowl, characterised in that each arm, prior to welding, has a surface layer (zone B) with a high initial carbon content and in that, on completion of the welding operation and after transfer, during the welding operation, of volumes of material with a high initial carbon content, the central zone of the weld (zones C and D) is a zone with a low carbon content and the peripheral zones of the weld (zone E) have a high carbon content.
