Abstract

Bistable electromechanical linear displacement and magnetic locking device. This consists of an electrical winding 4, with a ferromagnetic core 5 it has two positions or stable states, since it performs the retention or locking at one end, by permanent magnet 1, and at the other, by a helicoidal spring 6, or by another permanent magnet. There is a linear displacement of the core 5 and the actuator element 7. Element 7 operates by opening or closing the passage to element 11. Element 11 may represent the part of a valve with a hole, closed by element 7, or may represent a discontinuous electrical circuit, closed by element 7, i.e. the assembly of an electrically operated valve or a relay, respectively. Various alternatives are obtained by combining the relative positions of the winding, the core, the actuator, and locking by spring or by permanent magnet.
